Francisco Semião coordinates our international activities, based on his multi-lingual capacity and his work promoting Portugal in the United States. Francisco has a background in foundation, corporation and government relations. He excels at discovering interests and initiatives of funding agencies and matching them with aligned programmatic services offered by nonprofit organizations.

Francisco currently serves at a Director of Regulatory Affairs for the MedStar Health System in Washington, DC.

Prior this promotion, he dedicated the past 16 years serving the local DC/MD/VA area through tours at the DC Department of Health, GW Medical Center and Inova Health System by developing and attaining over $50 million in corporate, foundation and government grants to support programs that improve access to quality health care and preventive services.

Six years ago, Francisco began his tour at MedStar Washington Hospital Center as Senior Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations where he has worked to develop grant proposals seeking funding from charitable organizations, foundations, and federal/DC government agencies.

Over the past couple of years, his role has expanded to also providing support to the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, MedStar National Rehabilitation Network, MedStar Institute for Innovation, and MedStar Health Research Institute.

Francisco holds two master degrees from The George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health and the Marymount University School of Business Administration. He has served on several nonprofit and academic boards, and received academic and professional honors. Francisco was also knighted for his service to the Portuguese-American community.
